Yianneskis obtained a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from UMIST in
Manchester in 1976 and subsequently a MSc in Heat Transfer Engineering
from Imperial College, London, in 1978. He carried out his PhD research
work on the fluid mechanics of internal combustion engines and inlet
ducts in Imperial College and was awarded the PhD degree by the
University of London in 1982. He was a Research Assistant (1978-1983)
and Research Fellow (1983-1985) in Imperial College, before taking up an
EPSRC "New Blood" lectureship at King's in 1985. He was promoted to
Reader in Fluid Mechanics in 1991 and Professor of Fluid Mechanics in
1996. He was Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department (1994-1996,
2003-2004) and of the Department of Electronic Engineering (2000-2004)
and Head of the Division of Engineering (1996-2004); since 2004 he is
Head of the School of Physical Sciences and Engineering.
Professor Yianneskis is a Chartered Engineer, a Chartered Scientist, a
Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, a Fellow of the
Institution of Mechanical Engineers, a Fellow of the Royal Society of
Arts, and a Fellow of King's College London. He is Chairman of the Fluid
Mixing Processes Subject Group of the IChemE, he represents UK on the
Working Party on Mixing of the European Federation of Chemical
Engineering and King's College London on the Associated Parliamentary
Engineering Group, a member of the EPSRC College, a member of the Cyprus
Council for Degree Recognition (KYSATS), a member of the Boards of
Experts of the Committee for Research Evaluation (CIVR) and of the
Ministry for Education, University and Scientific Research (MIUR) of
Italy, and the Director of the Experimental & Computational Laboratory
for the Analysis of Turbulence (ECLAT). |
